Hij is boos. Heel erg boos en vooral op mij. Op deze foto is hij net weer wat gekalmeerd, maar even eerder kwam het stoom nog uit z'n oren. Ik ben namelijk een stomme moeder, want ik begrijp niet dat als je acht jaar oud bent, je heus wel alleen over een drukke weg naar een winkelcentrum kunt fietsen. En dat je alleen naar school kunt lopen. Of dat je tussen de middag in je eentje naar huis kunt komen om een boterham voor jezelf te maken, en dat je dan echt wel weer op tijd op school bent. En je niet laat overrijden door een auto of tram.
Het liefst doet hij alles alleen. Ik ben acht! roept hij dan verontwaardigd. En als hij heel erg boos is roept hij erachteraan: dit is mijn leven hoor! Daar heb jij niks over te vertellen! Ik probeer de zinnetjes van mijn vader (die over: geen hotel! en zolang je onder mijn dak woont!) in te slikken. Want als ik ze wel zeg, dan schreeuwt hij: JA! En ik mag ook al niet op kamers!
