Huisarts
Als je naar een ander stadsdeel bent verhuisd, moet je ook een andere huisarts zoeken. Een huisarts die bij jouw postcodegebied past. Zo gaat dat in Amsterdam. Dat is vervelend, maar wel logisch. Misschien wil jij namelijk wel van Noord naar Zuid fietsen om je vertrouwde huisarts iets voor te leggen, maar je oude huisarts in Zuid gaat niet op huisbezoek in Noord. Dat heen en weer gereis kun je ze niet aandoen. Huisartsen hebben het al druk zat.
Op IJburg is maar 1 huisartsenpraktijk, veel keus was er dus niet. Ik hoopte dan ook maar dat mijn wensen ten aanzien van een huisarts een beetje overeen zouden komen met waar ik het mee moest doen.
Die wensen zijn heel overigens heel simpel. De huisarts heeft verstand van zaken, houdt van kinderen en stuurt je niet met alles het psychische bos in. Die zijn er en ik heb ze gehad. Dat is de categorie huisartsen die je met een voorhoofdsholteontsteking naar huis stuurt met de mededeling dat je last hebt van opgekropt verdriet. Dus of je het vastzittende snot er even uit wilt huilen. Exit huisarts.
Sinds ik hier woon, lijkt het wel alsof mijn brokkenpiloten-inslag floreert als nooit tevoren. Ik zie mijn huisarts veel te veel. Tussen alle huis-tuin- en keukenklachten door vraagt ze hoe het met me is. Ze trekt daar geen goedgesprekgezicht bij, maar vraagt naar de stand van zaken, hoe ik ermee omga en of ze iets kan doen. Ze laat me in m'n waarde, maar het is duidelijk dat ze er is als dat nodig mocht zijn. Vaak is dat al ruim voldoende. Als er in mijn lichaam iets rommelt, komt ze niet met allerlei technische verklaringen. Ze denkt een richting op, en zorgt dat ik ergens terecht kan waar ze wel in mijn lichaam kunnen kijken. Ik denk dit, maar ik weet het niet zeker, met een foto of een echo weten we meer. Mensen die onderkennen dat ze iets niet weten, en je doorsturen naar iemand die het wel weet, zijn enorm geruststellend. Je kunt er op vertrouwen dat de zaak niet in een blablafase blijft hangen.
Vanochtend zat ik weer eens in haar spreekkamer. Mijn onfortuinlijke teen wilde nog steeds de maximale dosis paracetamol en dat leek me niet goed. Ze duwde en trok aan mijn teen, en concludeerde dat, in geval van breuk, ik bij de duw al tegen het plafond had moeten zitten. Zwaar gekneusd, kapsels beschadigd, banden uitgerekt. Ik wist niet dat een grote teen zoveel onderdelen had. Een dubbelgeklapte teen kan lang pijn doen. Het liefst niet lopen, maar gewoon uitzitten.
Ja, zei ze bij het weggaan, ik heb het ook ooit gehad. Ik deed zoiets stoms, ik bleef met m'n teen in m'n broekspijp hangen. Maanden last van gehad. Gelukkig hebben we vandaag allebei een rokje aan.
